Price range: £10.00 through £100.00

Sunguard UV reactive wristbands change colour from white to purple when exposed to sunlight, helping people clearly see when UV levels are high and sun protection is needed. Worn during outdoor activity, sport or play, they provide a simple and engaging way to reinforce sun-safe behaviour. They support the Melanoma Fund’s Sunguarding programme, helping people recognise UV exposure in everyday outdoor settings.

“When my band turns purple it means the sun is trying to get me.”

UV band care guidance

Sunguard UV Bands are designed as reusable UV-awareness tools to help remind wearers when UV levels are high outdoors. To help maintain the colour-changing effect for as long as possible:

  • remove the band when applying sunscreen, perfumes, soaps or hand sanitiser
  • avoid prolonged contact with chemicals and lotions
  • rinse with clean water if heavily exposed to sweat, chlorine or salt water
  • store away from direct sunlight when not in use

Like many UV-reactive materials, repeated exposure to strong sunlight and everyday products may gradually reduce the colour-changing performance over time. Under normal use and care, bands should remain reactive for an extended period, although lifespan will vary depending on frequency of wear, UV exposure and environmental conditions. The bands are intended as awareness tools to support positive sun-safe behaviour outdoors.
