Sienna Defoe

Sienna is a second-year medical student at the University of Birmingham, known for its excellence in medical education and research. With a passion for dermatology and skin cancer awareness, she is already making a difference beyond the classroom.

As a Sunguard, Sienna is keen to promote sun protection and skin health among young people—using her platform to inspire better habits and greater awareness around UV exposure.

She is particularly passionate about addressing the underrepresentation and misdiagnosis of skin cancer in people with darker skin tones. Through talks, conferences and campaigns, she is helping to create a more inclusive approach to both medical education and public health messaging.

In addition, Sienna is also launching a pioneering student-led society focused on skin health, offering education, peer support, and outreach for individuals affected by skin conditions. Her aim is to empower students and the wider community with accurate, inclusive, and compassionate information.

Known for her energy, empathy, and drive, Sienna is building partnerships with clinicians, researchers and charities to further her impact, and we’re proud to have her as part of our growing ambassador network.
